Heavy rains in Chennai

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) alerted Andhra Pradesh and Tamilnadu states by the Michaung cyclone. IMD predicts heavy rainfall will continue until December 4 especially in coastal areas. It has issued a red alert to Tiruvallur district for Monday. The district may receive extremely heavy rainfall of more than 21Cms in 24 hours. The Indian Railway cancelled 54 express train services in view of ensuing cyclone Michaung. Heavy rains lashed Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh states of India. Due to this reason, the Tamil Nadu state government declared a holiday to schools and colleges in Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chengalpet districts on Monday.

IMD predicts heavy rainfall will continue until December 4 especially in coastal areas. The Tamil Nadu state has been battling with the problem of water logging and flood like situation following heavy rainfall in the past few days and the situation is expected to get worse even further. The state faced troubles many times at the time of deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal. On 16 November 2021, the Tamil Nadu state and the South part of Andhra Pradesh occurred floods. More than 9 died and hundreds of people have been evacuated and rescued by police, military and the National Disaster Response Forces. Same situations are coming to occur in Tamil Nadu state once again by the Michaung cyclone.
